Wow. Just wow. I completely understand why this movie has 8 stars on IMDB and got such wonderful reviews when it came out. Rarely, rarely does a movie express itself so completely and so beautiful.
From the beginning, the movie is just hilarious. The repeated attempts by Harold to fake his own death to freak his mom out are hilarious. His meeting and opening up to Maude and the beautiful friendship and relationship they build are amazing.
And when the end comes, an end you almost knew had to come, it's so hard to swallow without crying, so hard to take without just falling apart yourself.
This is as close to a perfect film as I think I may have ever seen. A solid ***** stars, certainly.
