After nearly five years of loyal service, Mininova disabled access to over a million torrent files when it partly shut down its website. Starting today, only approved publishers are able to upload files to the site, but luckily there are plenty of alternatives and potential replacements BitTorrent users can flock to.

With an impressive 175,820,430 visits and close to a billion page views in the last 30 days, Mininova set a record that they will be unable to break in the near future. Last August a Dutch court ruled that Mininova had to remove all links to ‘infringing' torrent files, with disastrous consequences.

Just started reading this series and I have to say, it's really, really good. Not just the comic itself: superior writing and fantastic art aside, it just feels good to READ again. It's been far too long, and since I stocked up on a bunch of new comics and books this past Black Friday, I'll be blogging less and reading more. However, the good news is that what I will post will often be more than just links, but perhaps actual REVIEWS again! That's right! Movies, books, concerts, things that happen outside of the internet.
Anyways, yes; the Walking Dead is not only awesome, but considering you can by the epic-ly huge 'Compendium One' that contains the first 40 or so issues of the comic, it's a worthy buy that will keep you up at night. Not out of fear, but just because you can't put the thing down. EPIC.

The Beach Boys first hit the charts singing about three subjects: surfing, cars, and girls. (Especially, in the very early days, surfing and cars.) The group debuted with the independently released 1961 single “Surfin’,” then followed it up with their first smash in 1962, the double-sided hit “Surfin’ Safari” and “409.” Given a shot at recording a full album, they tried to apply their boisterous embrace to other all-American pursuits. At a royal feast in 19th century France a 1) Bustard was stuffed with a 2) Turkey stuffed with a 3) Goose stuffed with a 4) Pheasant stuffed with a 5) Chicken stuffed with a 6) Duck stuffed with a 7) Guinea Fowl stuffed with a 8) Teal stuffed with a 9) Woodcock stuffed with a 10) Partridge stuffed with a 11) Plover stuffed with a 12) Lapwing stuffed with a 13) Quail stuffed with a 14) Thrush stuffed with a 15) Lark stuffed with a 16) Ortolan Bunting stuffed with a 17) Garden Warbler stuffed with an olive. A controversial Scottish brewery has set a new record with the release of the world’s strongest beer.

Fraserburgh-based BrewDog have released the 32% Tactical Nuclear Penguin, which they claim is higher than the German beer brand Schorschbraer (31%)

The announcement comes on the same day that Scottish Government plans to introduce a minimum price for alcohol look set to be blocked by opposition parties.

Fourteen years ago, a pasty Irish teenager with a flair for inventions arrived at Edinburgh University to study artificial intelligence and computer science. For his thesis project, Ian Clarke created "a Distributed, Decentralised Information Storage and Retrieval System", or, as a less precise person might put it, a revolutionary new way for people to use the internet without detection. By downloading Clarke's software, which he intended to distribute for free, anyone could chat online, or read or set up a website, or share files, with almost complete anonymity.

"It seemed so obvious that that was what the net was supposed to be about – freedom to communicate," Clarke says now. "But [back then] in the late 90s that simply wasn't the case. The internet could be monitored more quickly, more comprehensively, more cheaply than more old-fashioned communications systems like the mail." His pioneering software was intended to change that.

Once the geologists were drilling for gas. Then suddenly during the drilling they have found an underground cavern, it was so big that all the drilling site with all the equipment and camps got deep deep under the ground. None dared to go down there because the cavern was filled with gas. So they ignited it so that no poisonous gas could come out of the hole, and since then, it’s burning, already for 35 years without any pause. Nobody knows how many tons of excellent gas has been burned for all those years but it just seems to be infinite there.
